Accessibility Statement

1. Our Commitment

UsOS enforces WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the minimum accessibility floor. This is a hard requirement, not a goal: a CI gate runs automated accessibility checks on every code change and blocks deployment if violations are introduced. Accessibility is not a feature tier — all WCAG 2.2 AA requirements apply equally to free nonprofit organizations and paying commercial organizations.

2. Conformance Status

Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA, substantial conformance for V1 public and admin surfaces. Method: automated CI gate (axe-core 4.x) plus manual review, with real-user testing scheduled ahead of general availability.

• Touch targets (≥ 48 × 48 dp) — enforced, CI-verified on all interactive elements
• Color contrast (4.5:1 text, 3:1 UI) — enforced, palette verified
• Keyboard navigation — shipped, full keyboard-only navigation on all admin surfaces
• Screen reader support (ARIA roles, labels) — shipped on all V1 public and admin surfaces
• Reduced motion — prefers-reduced-motion honored for all animations
• Focus indicators — visible, 2px minimum, passes 3:1 contrast
• Language declaration — lang attribute set on root, i18n-aware
• Error identification — all form fields have explicit error messages plus ARIA
• Reflow at 320px — mobile-first single-column layout on all narrower viewports

3. Known Gaps

• Real-user assistive-technology testing — targeted before general availability
• Drag-and-drop Kanban keyboard-only reordering — targeted for a future release
• Tagged-PDF export accessibility — targeted for a future release

4. Assistive Technology Compatibility

Tested and confirmed working with VoiceOver on iOS 17+ (primary mobile target), TalkBack on Android 13+ (secondary mobile target), and NVDA with Chrome on Windows (web surface). Full cross-assistive-technology testing against the complete WCAG 2.2 AA surface is scheduled ahead of general availability; the above represents development-time verification.

5. How to Report an Accessibility Issue

Accessibility failures are treated as bugs, not feature requests, and prioritized accordingly. Email accessibility@theheartofpeace.org with the affected page or feature, the assistive technology and browser/OS you were using, and what you expected versus what happened. We acknowledge within 72 hours and triage within 5 business days; critical assistive-technology blockers target a 7-day fix cycle.

6. Technical Implementation Notes

Built on Expo Router (React Native) for mobile and Next.js App Router for web, with native accessibility roles on all interactive elements, labels on all icon-only touchables, hint text on complex interactions, explicit state for selection/checked/ disabled, and polite live regions on status-update areas. Color palette is verified against WCAG contrast ratios.

7. Formal Accessibility Conformance Report

A full VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) based on WCAG 2.2 is planned for a future release to support procurement processes at larger nonprofit partners.
